UCSB tries to ensure a healthy indoor atmosphere while attempting to reduce our environmental impact. One of the best ways to do both is with carpet tiles. Carpet tiles cover the ground just like regular carpet but are simply squares of fabric, secured with a non-toxic, releasable adhesive. They fit together in any direction and reduce carpet waste from about 10% in conventional “broadloom” carpet to about 1-2%. Also, damaged or stained carpet tiles can be easily replaced, extending the life of the whole carpet. (More info pending)
