Electrical Projects

Electrical recharge can be defined as mainly small projects that are created by campus departments with a primary focus on electrical installations or alterations relating to a building or the facility. An example is installation of an electrical outlet in a lab or an office. Estimates, when requested, are provided on a time-and-materials basis. Project funding is required before construction begins. Actual charges to a project are normally incurred as the cost of PF labor and materials. All electrical installation work is performed by qualified electricians and is performed to meet applicable building and safety codes.

Traffic Signals

The UCSB campus has 8 traffic signals which are maintained by Physical Facilities IMSA certified Traffic Signal Electricians under Maurice Startzman, Senior Craft/Zone Lead. All of the signals were converted from incandescent light bulbs to LED technology in 2004, saving approximately $10,000.00 per year in electrical costs. To report traffic signal problems, email customer.service@pf.ucsb.edu or call 893-2661, extension 4.
