Twenty-six years of public sector experience managing the planning, design and construction of major building projects on university campuses. Previous positions as assistant vice-chancellor/campus architect at UCSC and as contracting officer/regional architect at the University of Alaska. Ten years private sector experience in the design and construction of large-scale commercial and institutional projects in the US and overseas for the firms of Skidmore Owings and Merrill, and William Pereira.

Public service has included appointment by the Governor of Alaska as advisor to the legislature on the quality of planning and architecture for state buildings, member of the community design review board, historic district advisory committee, waterfront planning committee, and parks and recreation committee. Former design advisor to the State of Washington for University of Washington expansion.

Presently Director of Design and Construction Services at UCSB and responsible for delivery of an $800M capital development program and management of an office of 42 professional staff dedicated to that task. Also serves as the Campus Building Official and in that capacity is responsible for enforcement of the building code.
